1st SSD Failure

I recently had my first Solid State Drive (SSD) failure. Even though this drive is over ten years old I was surprised by it. Maybe I should not have been surprised but with mechanical drives most of their failures are mechanical, and you can hear them beginning to have trouble before they die. With this SSD drive, it went from working to dead in a split second. Fortunately, this laptop drive was backed up.

With a mechanical drive that has failed I usually take it apart to reclaim the magnets and to destroy the platters to be sure residual data cannot be recovered. This SSD disk is a new challenge!
